Head up ‘Smugglers Path’ to the saddle overlooking Duiker or Seal Island as its also known. From The Drop at Brako, a sheer vertical cliff rising 334m, you can see Vulcan Rock and the famed big-wave surfing spot, Dungeons. Stop off at Lookout Cave, once used to spot approaching boats. On the way you’ll hear fascinating accounts of the history and geology of the area, and the role of indigenous plants in the lives of the Khoi, like the famed taaibos and the gona bush, used by ancients to make their hunting bows and arrows.

There is an option to walk back to the harbour around the coastline to view and learn about the Cape Fur Seals at Duiker Island. This is a bit more strenuous, but a great hike with sightings of Khoisan stone-walled tidal fish traps and the remains of the Dutch-built western battery at the foot of Hangberg.

This hike offers fantastic and unique opportunities for the perfect Instagram shot. Don't forget to bring your phone or camera!
