About Us

WHO WE ARE

Registered hiking, culture, and nature guide, Brent Thomas, launched Karbonkelberg Tourism in 2015 through a local business competition.

Karbonkelberg Tourism is a community initiative that trains guides, encourages kids to enjoy nature, and offers guided hiking tours in the area. It has public liability insurance.

Hout Bay, one of the planet’s most spectacular locations, lies 20 minutes away from Cape Town’s historic centre. Anyone exploring the Cape Peninsula, or driving over Chapman’s Peak, will pass through Hout Bay. People come for the Seal Island boat ride, to walk the slopes of iconic Table Mountain and to enjoy the culinary delights and Cape wines the village has to offer.

The village and harbour provide the perfect base from which to explore Table Mountain’s Karbonkelberg, Constantiaberg and Chapman’s Peak. With attractions such as Chapman’s Peak Drive, Mariner’s Wharf and World of Birds, Hout Bay will tick off several of your ‘bucket list’ places to visit.

Visitors can experience the diversity and complexity of South Africa by participating in the area’s unique cultural experiences.

UNIQUE TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD

The Harbour community is nestled at the base of the Sentinel & Karbonkelberg mountains. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk through the harbour and into the local community or do the trip on electric bikes. We offer hikes to fascinating parts inaccessible to the general public, a peak at the legendary stone face guardians, striking lookout views from mountain cliffs and a unique expedition to Seal Island on foot.

Our tours are tailored to your appetite for adventure, and can be customised for all fitness levels.
